Known as “Cyclone,” Pete Taylor had a whirlwind career as a sprinter.

became the 1939 Canadian Junior Champion in the 100- and 220-yard sprints, and the 1940 Canadian Open Champion in the same races. At just 17, He was the youngest winner in Canadian Open history, marking him as one to watch.

Following this period, Taylor won medals and broke records across Before returning to Canada, Taylor ran in a number of track events in Europe. He set a variety of records, and routinely ran the 100-metre race within 3/10 of a second of the world- record time.
